First run on a Mac

  1. Open the download and drag Tidyflick into your Applications folder.
  2. Open it the first time with a right-click. In Applications, right-click (or Control-click) Tidyflick and choose Open, then Open again in the dialog.
    • If macOS still says it can’t be opened, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway.
  3. Allow folder access. macOS asks whether Tidyflick may access your Desktop, Documents and Downloads. Click Allow each time, so it can build your decks.
  4. Leave it running. The app shows a QR code for your phone. From then on it opens normally.

First run on Windows

  1. Open the downloaded file.
  2. Get past SmartScreen. If you see Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. That’s the install. Tidyflick puts itself in your user folder and starts when you log in, so your evening deck is ready. You can turn off starting at login in its settings.
  4. Allow it on your network. If Windows Firewall asks, allow Tidyflick on Private networks so your phone can reach it on your Wi-Fi. (Connecting through your account works even if you don’t.)
  5. Leave it running. The app opens in your browser and shows a QR code for your phone.

Why the warning? Tidyflick isn’t code-signed yet, and macOS and Windows warn about any app that isn’t. Only download Tidyflick from this page.

Connect your phone

  1. Scan the QR code on your computer screen with your phone’s camera, and open the link. Tidyflick opens in your phone’s browser.
  2. Add it to your Home Screen. On iPhone, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android, open the browser menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen. There’s nothing to get from an app store.
  3. Choose how to connect.
    • On the same Wi-Fi as your computer, your phone connects directly. No account needed.
    • To sort from anywhere, create a free account and your phone connects through our secure relay. Previews pass through encrypted and are never stored.
  4. Pick your evening time and allow notifications, so Tidyflick can tell you when the day’s new files are ready to sort.
